Roughly 60,000 runners covered the New York City Marathon course on November 1, as New York marked 50 years since the marathon first expanded to all five boroughs. The field running from Staten Island to Central Park included actors, musicians, former professional athletes, reality stars and a small army of Peloton instructors.
Among the actors, Jennifer Connelly finished in 3:40:09. Connelly already knows the course well: the Academy Award winner ran 3:45:47 at the 2024 NYC Marathon while raising money for Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, and she returned this year in support of Fred's Team.
Broadway was represented by Jordan Litz and Patina Miller. Litz finished in 3:13:48; his 2025 marathon Sunday was notable even by Broadway standards, as he ran 3:40:53 and then returned to the Gershwin Theatre to perform as Fiyero in Wicked twice that same day. Now starring in the show on London's West End, he came back to New York with a sub-three-hour goal and, the source noted, no two-show day waiting at the finish. Miller, a Tony winner, finished in 3:57:46, improving on the 3:52:44 she ran last November; she clocked 4:00:36 in 2023, the same year she sang the national anthem before the race.
T.J. Holmes completed his fourth NYC Marathon in 4:19:35. The journalist and media personality debuted in 2022 with a 4:25:31 finish, improved to 4:14:39 alongside Amy Robach in 2023, and returned the following year to finish in 4:41:41. Matt James, the Bachelor alum and ABC Food Tours co-founder, finished in 3:45:37 on his sixth trip through the five boroughs; he already had five finishes, the fastest of them a 3:00:20 in 2024, just shy of breaking three hours.
Tiki Barber finished in 5:11:49. The former New York Giants running back has become more than an occasional celebrity entrant since retiring from football: he first ran New York in 2014 and has completed more than 15 marathons, and he ran 1:51:34 at the United Airlines NYC Half in March.
Del Water Gap, the singer-songwriter known as S. Holden Jaffe, finished in 3:53:25. He ran the Los Angeles Marathon in 2025 and later said the four or five months he spent training were some of his best in years. After spending much of 2026 on his Chasing the Chimera world tour, he put another New York date on the calendar, this one without a microphone.
Comedian, actor and New York Times bestselling author Zarna Garg took on her first marathon with Team Maybelline in partnership with the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI). Garg is also featured in the brand's "Miles of Maybes" campaign and documented her training on Instagram. The Filipino American rapper and producer P-Lo also ran his first New York marathon, having already completed the San Francisco and Oakland marathons; he told Men's Journal that New York had been on his bucket list for years. Rich Roll, the plant-based ultra-endurance athlete and podcaster, brought an endurance resumé that stretches well beyond traditional road racing, including top finishes at the Ultraman World Championships and, in 2010, the EPIC5 challenge of five Ironman-distance triathlons on five Hawaiian islands in under a week.
Eight Peloton instructors ran New York this year: Robin Arzón, Mariana Fernández (3:34:00), Hannah Frankson (3:51:31), Alex Karwoski (2:51:17), Zacharias Niedzwiecki (4:22:17), Ash Pryor, Camila Ramón (3:58:33) and Matt Wilpers (2:54:37). Arzón ran marathon No. 28 and finished her ninth NYC. Wilpers and Fernández also showed serious speed, clocking 1:25:27 and 1:46:22 respectively at this year's NYC Half, while Frankson completed the London Marathon in 2024.
