Democrats won control of the Senate in Tuesday’s elections, breaking the Republican hold on power in Washington and gaining new ways to push back on President Trump’s health agenda.
The party secured at least 51 seats, according to the Associated Press at 11:36 p.m. EST. Counting was still underway, so the final total could change.
Senate control gives Democrats their first major opportunity to scrutinize the administration’s health reforms and pursue legislation to roll them back.
