A new guide to Brooks running shoes highlights models for a range of uses, from everyday training and speedwork to racing and trail running. The guide selects the Glycerin 23 as its best overall shoe, while the Ghost 18 remains its pick for daily training and the Launch 12 is recommended as a lower-cost option for speed sessions.
Other featured models include the Ghost Amp for tempo runs, the Hyperion Elite 6 for racing, the Glycerin Flex for lightweight cushioning, the Adrenaline GTS 25 for long runs, the Glycerin Max 2 for run-walk sessions and the Cascadia 20 for trails. The article also reviews the Hyperion Max 4, describing its plated, cushioned design for longer efforts.
The guide’s reviewers say the Glycerin 23 stood out for its roomy toe area, broad platform and responsive cushioning. Its DNA Tuned foam is described as lighter and springier than the DNA Loft foam used in the previous version. The shoe is also available as the Glycerin GTS 23, a firmer, more supportive option.
Among the other models, the Launch 12 is presented as a lightweight speedwork shoe, though its narrow fit may not suit runners with wide feet. The Ghost Amp adds a PEBA-and-EVA foam blend, which testers found suited to faster workouts. The Ghost 18 is positioned as a dependable everyday trainer, although some testers reported a tight-feeling forefoot.
For support on longer runs, the Adrenaline GTS 25 uses GuideRails to help manage ankle and knee movement. The Glycerin Max 2 is designed for easy and recovery runs, while the Cascadia 20 pairs a Vibram Megagrip outsole with a stability-focused trail design. Testers praised the Cascadia’s grip and protection but said its upper could feel hot.
The guide says its team evaluates hundreds of shoes each year, sending models to more than 250 testers. Participants of different ages, experience levels, arch heights and gait patterns run at least 100 Miles before reporting on fit, feel and ride.
An editor’s note dated November 4 says the Glycerin Flex, Adrenaline GTS 25 and Glycerin Max 2 are discounted by as much as 25%. It also notes that the Adrenaline GTS 26 is now available, with feedback still to come.
